Zeta-Lab Mosin Nagant 1944 Carbine

A case of extreme excitement followed closely by a little disappointment as eHobbyAsia announced the forthcoming replica of Zeta Lab's Mosin–Nagant Model 1944 Carbine. Although the airsoft community has been gagging for an affordable Mosin-Nagant for some time what was probably sought after most was the long 1891/30 model, which is famous as the deadly Soviet army sniper rifle.

Aside for World War 2 Soviet re-enactors and airsofters the Mosin–Nagant was widely used during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Above: The Mosin-Nagant 1991/30 model, weapon of choice for Soviet snipers during the Great Patriotic War and of NVA marksman twenty years later. KTW already offer an airsoft replica of this variant, but at £550 (Wolf Armouries UK) many will be itching for a cheaper Chinese version to appear.

The 1944 carbine version is a step in the right direction – although UK sites may not look kindly at it's integral bayonet (all be it a dummy one) – but I am sure there will be a lot of people who will be pestering eHobbyAsia for a date of the release of a 1991/30 variant.

The Zeta Lab's replica cannot be said to be 'cheapsoft', at $369, but how long will it be before DBoy's clones this collectors item? Let's hope they do as good a job as they did with their German Kar 98k clone if they do (minus the cartridge loading this time please).

Aside from World War 2 Soviet re-enactors and airsofters the Mosin–Nagant was widely used up to the  Vietnam war so if you prefer to play NVA or Viet Cong the new '44 carbine will be a welcome addition to your armoury.
